The Genomics Standards Consortiums' 22nd workshop is scheduled for March 2022 and will be held in Moorea, French Polynesia.

Local Hosts:

The Gump Research Station on the Island of Moorea, French Polynesia, regularly hosts classes and conferences. The Research Building is the primary venue for meetings; the Meeting room is climate controlled and can hold 30 to 40 in lecture-style layout. GSC-Moorea expects to receive 40 attendees including sponsors, speakers, local scientists, and GSC board members, many of which are directors and world leaders in their respective technology area.

The CRIOBE

The Center for Insular Research and Observatory of the Environment (CRIOBE) is one of France’s preeminent laboratories for the study of coral reef ecosystems. It is a research laboratory with more than 70 staff, including academic professors, research scientists and administrative and technical personnel from three of France’s premiere research institutions - École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE), the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) – that together form the CRIOBE USR 3278 research unit. The CRIOBE falls under the prestigious umbrella of the PSL (Paris Sciences & Letters) Research University.

Flights:

Airlines flying to The Islands of Tahiti arrive at Faa'a International Airport (PPT), located a few miles from Papeete on the main island of Tahiti.
Airlines with flights between the US and Tahiti include:

Travel from Tahiti to Mo’orea: Passenger ferries operate up to eight times daily between Moorea and the waterfront in downtown Papeete. There are 2 ferry lines serving Moorea - The Aremiti and the Terevau.

The ferry departs from Tahiti's docks, located 10-15 minutes by cab from the airport. No advanced booking is necessary, you just buy tickets at their desk. The crossing lasts about 30-40 minutes. Ferries from Tahiti to Moorea cost between $11 and $15 for a one-way trip per person, and ~ $50 one-way for vehicles.
Note: The ferry does not run at night, if you arrive in Tahiti late afternoon you could catch a flight to Mo’orea or spend the night in Tahiti and take the ferry the next morning to Mo’orea.
